Utah Spray Tans
Everything you need to know before, during, and after your tan no fluff, no jargon, just straight answers.
A spray tan uses DHA (dihydroxyacetone) a sugar-based ingredient that reacts with the amino acids in the top layer of your skin to create a natural-looking color. This process takes 82-4 hours to fully develop.
The instant color you see right after your tan is a temporary bronzer a cosmetic guide that shows coverage during application and rinses off at your first shower. Your actual tan is developing underneath the whole time.
Absolutely not. The orange spray tan is a thing of the past it was caused by low-quality DHA formulations and poor color matching. We use premium solutions with sophisticated undertone blends, and every tan starts with a custom color consultation to match your skin tone exactly.
We also use Erythrulose alongside DHA in two of our formulas, which creates a deeper, more natural brown result that fades evenly rather than turning orange.
With proper prep and aftercare, our formulations last closer to 10-14 days significantly longer than a spray booth which typically fades in 5-7 days. Your tan lives in the top layer of skin, so as your skin naturally sheds, the tan fades with it. The better you moisturize and care for your skin, the longer it lasts.
Plan for about 20 minutes total roughly 10 minutes to spray, a few minutes to dry with the finishing powder, and a quick chat about your rinse time and aftercare. It's fast, easy, and you'll walk out feeling amazing.
You won't walk away smelling like you just got a spray tan that's intentional. DHA does have a very mild natural scent as it develops, but our solutions are specifically chosen because they don't leave you with that recognizable "spray tan smell" that follows you around. No added fragrance, no masking agents just a natural glow and nothing else.
For reference, many spray booths use solutions containing Parfum plus fragrance allergens like Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone and Linalool. We don't. Your skin gets the tan, not the smell.
DHA only reacts with the outermost layer of dead skin cells it doesn't penetrate into the bloodstream. Spray tans are widely considered safe during pregnancy, but we always recommend checking with your doctor first.
Our Treatment formula is specifically pregnancy-safe and formulated without harsh ingredients. It's actually one of our most nourishing options for sensitive and changing skin.
Yes, and this is something we want to be upfront about. Hormonal changes, whether from pregnancy, birth control, menopause, or other factors, can sometimes affect how your skin absorbs and holds a tan. You might notice the color comes out lighter than usual, fades faster, or develops a little differently than previous tans.
This isn't anything you've done wrong and it isn't a product failure. It's simply your skin chemistry shifting. The good news is that trying a different formula from our range can often help, since each one interacts with skin differently. We'll always work with you to find what gets the best result for where your skin is right now.
Most spray tan solutions are alcohol-based with basic filler ingredients. Ours are alcohol-free and packed with active skincare ingredients you'd find in premium serums anti-aging peptides, hyaluronic acid, ceramides, niacinamide, bakuchiol, and more.
This means you're not just getting a tan you're getting a skin treatment at the same time. None of our competitors in Utah County use formulations at this level.
We handle the solution selection for you. Based on your skin tone, skin type, and what you're going for, we'll choose the best formula before we even start. You don't need to research anything ahead of time — that's exactly what the consultation at the start of your appointment is for.
The only thing you need to decide is your rinse time, and we'll help with that too. We can accommodate anywhere from a very quick rapid rinse (as little as 1 hour) all the way to a full overnight development (8 or more hours). Just let us know your schedule and we'll work around it.
No none of our three solutions contain denatured alcohol. This matters because alcohol dries your skin out, speeds up fading, and can cause irritation especially for sensitive skin. Many budget-level spray tan solutions use alcohol as a drying agent, which is exactly why those tans fade faster and can feel uncomfortable.
Our alcohol-free formulas keep your skin hydrated, which means a longer-lasting, more even fade.
Included always. Our solutions have sweat resistance built into the formula itself, so we don't need to charge extra for it. Some studios charge $10 to $15 for a "sweat shield" add-on because their base solution is cheap enough to need it. Ours doesn't.
Only if you want it to be. We carry clear and light bronzer options for a professional, work-friendly look where the guide color is barely visible. If you want more visible color while developing, we also have medium and deep bronzer options. Just let us know your preference at your appointment.
Nothing scary at all we promise. Your appointment starts with a quick consultation where we talk through your skin tone, what color you're going for, and any concerns you have. Then we'll choose your solution and bronzer level together.
The actual spray takes about 10 minutes. You'll stand in a few positions, we'll cover everything evenly, finish with drying powder, and you're done. Most first-timers say it was way less intimidating than they expected.
Completely your choice and your comfort level. Most clients go in their bra and underwear or a swimsuit. Some prefer to go fully nude. All are perfectly fine we are a judgment-free zone, full stop.
We provide complimentary disposable thongs and pasties at every appointment if you'd like them. Men must wear some form of undergarment.
Absolutely and honestly, fair skin often produces some of the most stunning results. The key is using the right solution percentage and bronzer level so the color develops naturally on your specific skin tone. We specialize in believable, natural results for all skin tones including fair and very fair complexions.
We'll match the formula to you, not the other way around.
Yes and we have a solution specifically formulated for you. Our Treatment formula is designed with sensitive skin in mind it contains ceramides to repair and strengthen the skin barrier, niacinamide to calm redness, and bakuchiol as a gentle retinol alternative. All three of our solutions are alcohol-free, which significantly reduces irritation risk.
If you have a specific skin condition or concern, just let us know at booking or in your consultation and we'll make sure we find the right fit.
Don't stress. Our solutions are formulated to perform even when prep isn't perfect. Just let us know at your appointment what you weren't able to do and we'll accommodate. The prep list is about maximizing your result it's not a pass/fail test.
Dove soap, lotion, and deodorant leave a coating on your skin that interferes with how the solution absorbs. This can result in patchy development or uneven color. Switch to a different brand in the 2448 hours before your appointment for best results.
Skip retinol, AHAs, BHAs, and benzoyl peroxide on the day of your tan. These actives accelerate skin cell turnover and can cause your tan to develop unevenly or fade faster. You can resume your normal skincare routine after your first rinse.
Spray tan is the last beauty stop do everything else first. Waxing, manicures, and pedicures should all be done before your spray tan appointment. Waxing after your tan will strip the color, and nail services can introduce products that interfere with your tan's development.
Completely normal don't panic. When you rinse, you're washing off the temporary bronzer guide. Your actual tan is still developing underneath and will continue deepening for a full 2-4 hours after your rinse. Judge your color the next day, not right after your shower.
Hop back in the shower and gently rub the area again with your hands under lukewarm water. Streaks after rinsing are almost always leftover bronzer that wasn't fully removed not your actual tan. Once you've rubbed it off, your tan underneath should be even and streak-free.
We recommend CeraVe Moisturizing Cream, Hempz Original Herbal Lotion, or Native Body Lotion. All three are tan-friendly and deeply hydrating.
The one thing to avoid is any lotion containing Mineral Oil it breaks down your tan faster than almost anything else. Check your ingredient list before using.
2 days before your event is the sweet spot. By day 2 your tan has fully developed, any bronzer streaks have been rinsed away, and your color is at its richest and most even. Day 1 (the day after your tan) is also fine but you'll still be mid-development.
Avoid getting tanned the day of an important event your tan needs time to fully develop and you want a buffer in case of any adjustments.
Wait until after your first rinse and ideally until 2-4 hours post-tan before any heavy sweating. Our solutions have sweat resistance built in, but excessive sweating before your first rinse can still affect your developing tan. After your first rinse and full development you can work out normally.
Everything. Custom color consultation, your choice of premium solution, rapid or overnight development, sweat resistance, disposable pasties and underwear, drying powder, feet protectors, hair net and hair tie, and a private judgment-free environment. No upsells, no add-ons, no surprises.
For an additional $8 we can add a custom contour tan a technique where we use light and shadow to sculpt definition and dimension into your tan. Think slimmer waist, more defined legs, enhanced collarbones. It's a skill-based artistic service on top of your regular tan and the results are stunning for photos, events, or anyone who wants that extra editorial finish.
Membership is $20/month and gives you $20 off every tan meaning your monthly tan is essentially free as long as you maintain your membership. Members also get free upgrades, buddy discounts, and access to free cocktail tans based on availability.
